The Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission will host the Digital Assembly on 15 – 16 June 2023 in Stockholm. 

Context and Objective

The Digital Assembly is an annual event organised by the European Commission and the holder of the spring presidency of the Council of the European Union. This year the Digital Assembly will be held in Arlanda (Sweden) at the Scandinavian XPO on the theme of a digital, open and secure Europe. 

The Digital Assembly will provide a forum for stakeholders to exchange views on how Europe can develop a competitive digital single market based on a strong focus on cyber security during the Digital Decade and within the EU Cyber Security Strategy and Twin Transitions. 

Programme

The Swedish Presidency is dedicated to curating a conference program that addresses key EU initiatives and ongoing debates surrounding the conference theme. The Assembly will be opened by Erik Slottner, Swedish Minister for Public Administration and Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the Internal Market. The conference will consist of 5 plenary sessions and 6 breakout sessions, as well as 3 side events. The plenary sessions will focus on a range of topics and will host high-level and inspirational speakers from the digital sector, policy makers, and academia. Side event: Accelerating Advanced Digital Skills within European SMEs

On 16 June at 14:00, the European Commission and the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition will hold a session on « Accelerating Advanced Digital Skills within European SMEs« . The session will focus on how to accelerate the upskilling of the workforce and SMEs’ management with the advanced digital skills they need to innovate and grow in a successful and sustainable way.

The session will be introduced by Anne Bajart, Deputy Head of Unit for Interactive Technologies, Digital for Culture and Education at DG CNECT. A video message by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Anastasia Bondar on the Laptops for Ukraine initiative will be shared.  This will be followed by a presentation by the Swedish National Coalition on Digital Skills and Jobs on initiatives to upskill and reskill workers to equip them with the advanced digital skills needed by SMEs in Sweden. After this, Vitis Faure Tilgaard, Policy Officer at DG CNECT, will moderate a panel discussion with representatives from SME associations, European Digital Innovation Hubs, projects focusing on advanced digital skills in SMEs and academia. The discussion will focus on the current challenges in the adoption of advanced digital skills in SMEs and the potential solutions that could address them.

Registration and Practical information

You can participate in person or online as the event will be hybrid. To attend the conference in person, you can register until the 11 June. Attendance is free of charge. To follow the event remotely, there is no need to register as parts of the conference will be livestreamed.
