Bellerophon Gemlabs, the gemstone analyst, has reached a major milestone with the development of a robot in collaboration with Luxembourg engineer Bradley Elsbury, which highlights the Luxembourg ecosystem. In just 5 months, a robotic arm was created to evaluate gemstones internally in the company’s Paris offices, at an impressive rate of 7,000 per day. By comparison, Bellerophon's operations in Bangkok process 22,000 stones per month, or about 1,100 per day.
Martial Curti, founder of the company, started by making noise rather than seeking financing, obtaining five machines through agreements with other traders. Prepaid services also played a key role, allowing customers to pay $100,000 in advance for services for one year with a 50% discount.
The company is internationalising, with a presence in Luxembourg awaiting approval, focusing on research and development. Bellerophon plans to shine globally without requiring a physical presence, using technology to assess gems remotely, even as far as Sri Lanka.
The gemstone laboratory in Paris, located near luxury brands such as Chanel and Chaumet, is a strategic choice to be close to high-end customers. The collaboration between Bradley Elsbury and Martial Curti led to the creation of the robot, marking a significant step forward for the company.
