The Luxembourg Independent Audiovisual Authority (ALIA) is launching a call for applications for a member position on its Board of Directors. This public institution is responsible for the regulation of audiovisual media and video-sharing platforms, with the main mission of protecting the public. The Board of Directors, which consists of five members appointed by the Grand Duke on a proposal from the Government in Council, plays a crucial role in the functioning of ALIA.
The main tasks of the Management Board include the examination of complaints, the decision on investigation files, the granting of permissions for local and regional radio stations, as well as the formulation of opinions on applications for concessions for media services in Luxembourg. The Board is also responsible for approving ALIA’s budget, annual accounts, and staffing.
The profile sought for this position requires an in-depth knowledge of the audiovisual media landscape and an understanding of the challenges of media regulation. Proficiency in Luxembourgish, French and German is essential. Skills in digital services, artificial intelligence, as well as experience with new media (such as digital radio, vlogs, and content creators) are considered major assets.
The term of office is five years, renewable, and the newly appointed member will serve until January 2029. The Board meets on average twice a month, and its members receive a monthly allowance. However, certain restrictions apply, such as the prohibition to hold positions or financial interests in entities supervised by ALIA.
Applications must be submitted by 30 August 2024, together with a CV and a motivation letter, to the address indicated in the announcement.
