Luxembourg is taking a new step in its technological training strategy with the opening of its first school dedicated to drones, via the Luxembourg Drone Center of the CNFPC (Centre national de formation professionnelle continu). Located in Ettelbruck, this center has been designed to meet the growing professional uses of drones and to develop the necessary skills in the public and private sectors.
The training offer is wide and suitable for both beginners and professionals. Learners will not only be able to learn how to fly, but will also be able to master legislation, meteorology, maintenance, data processing, and the use of drones in areas such as precision farming, topography, infrastructure inspection, and media and communications.
The context explains this: as of 13 March 2025, more than 4,144 drone operators were already registered in Luxembourg, an increase of 85% in two years. The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, with the support of the Ministry of Mobility, stresses that this school will not only professionalise the use of drones but alsoensure aviation safety and that drone operations comply with current European regulations.
The Luxembourg Drone Center complements the training courses already offered by the Civil Aviation Directorate, and now offers a national framework for certifying pilots, testing applications, and experimenting with new technologies around drones. The centre thus opens up new professional opportunities and strengthens Luxembourg’s technological ecosystem in a fast-growing field.
