On 24 September, Luxembourg hosted the official launch of Women in AI Benelux (WAI) in the capital. This event marked a decisive step in the drive to create a dynamic network to encourage the representation and participation of women in the field of artificial intelligence.

Under the theme "AI & Trust: The Human-Centric Approach", two keynote speeches punctuated the evening.

  • Dr. Elif Biber, researcher at the University of Luxembourg, presented the challenges of the future EU AI Act, stressing the importance of a strong legal framework.
  • Émilie Viard, an expert in governance and UX, showed how human-centred design builds trust in AI systems.

The event, hosted in Kirchberg, brought together researchers, engineers, legal professionals and technology enthusiasts. Exchanges continued in a friendly atmosphere, fostering new synergies for the future.

Beyond the conferences, this launch laid the foundations for the WAI Luxembourg community, supported by the Marie Speyer Grants of the University of Luxembourg (BrainSat project, led by Dr Flor Ortiz). This initiative aims to be a space for mentoring, collaboration and career development for women in AI, while remaining open to all.
With this launch, Luxembourg confirms its commitment to promote more inclusive, responsible and human-centric AI, and stands out as a key player in fair innovation in Europe.
