In 2023, 8% of EU companies with 10 or more employees used artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in their operations. These technologies include text mining, computer vision, speech recognition, natural language generation, machine learning and deep learning, used to collect data and make autonomous decisions to achieve specific goals. The countries with the highest adoption rates are Denmark (15.2%), Finland (15.1%) and Luxembourg (14.4%), while the lowest rates are in Romania (1.5%), Bulgaria (3.6%), Poland (3.7%) and Hungary (3.7%).
The most commonly used AI technologies are robotic process automation (3%), text mining (2.9%) and machine learning (2.6%). Other technologies include voice recognition, used by 2.5% of companies, image recognition and processing (2.2%), natural language generation (2.1%), and autonomous robots, autonomous vehicles and drones (0.9%).
These data illustrate the diversity and scope of AI adoption in European companies, showing a growing trend towards automation and process optimisation through artificial intelligence.
