The Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory (VR/AR Lab) is an innovative research center of the COaST (Collaborativeand Socio-Technical Systems)group, specializing in mediated reality. Equipped with the latest technologies and prototypes, it is a real testing ground for exploring the immersive possibilities offered by virtual and augmented reality. Thanks to its dedicated space, the laboratory allows the experimental evaluation of various mixed reality systems and experiments. This experimental approach focuses on several key aspects, includingimmersion, interactivity, collaboration, adaptability, agency, representation, context awareness and socio-technical design.
One of the strengths of the VR/AR Lab is its ability to dynamically reproduce different local environments and conditions through its specialised workstations and modular partitions. This flexibility allows researchers to explore a variety of scenarios and situations, creating a space for innovation and discovery. Moreover, by focusing its efforts on evaluating and improving mediated reality experiences, the laboratory contributes to the advancement of knowledge in this burgeoning field, paving the way for new applications and opportunities in fields as diverse as education, health, entertainment and many more.
